I've been an LDraw user for a long time, although spent some time playing with LDD. However, I went back to LDraw for its flexibility and rendering possibilities.
I've put some time into creating new parts of Lutz Uhlmann's LGEO system, used for rendering LDraw models in POV-Ray, although I've submitted a few parts to the LDraw Parts Tracker with my relatively basic grasp of LDraw part creation.
On the LDraw.org wiki
As Willy has asked me to put together an updated LDraw to POV-Ray tutorial, I will be using a test page under my User page to start building it before publishing it as a "proper" page.
In Progress: POV-Ray Tutorial
It will take some information from the tutorial I wrote at Eurobricks, found here, although I plan on focusing more on radiosity.
LDraw colour comparison chart
Some ideas on putting together an LDraw colour comparison chart, much like the Peeron Color List.
The LDraw colours and their LEGO ID comparisons are based on the current official ldconfig.ldr file (2012-09-13). As LDraw and BrickLink mostly share naming conventions for their colours, if there is an entry in BrickLink's colour guide for the same LDraw colour it will be linked to via a logo.
The LDD colours and names are taken directly from LEGO Digital Designer, and are accurate as of LDD 4.3.6, Brick Version 1033. As Brickset can utilise LEGO's replacement parts system, if there is a Brickset entry available for a particular LDD colour it will be linked to via a logo.
Additionally, colours that have "official" definitions as part of Peeron's Offical LEGO Color Chart are also paired with their LDD entries.
Note: Transparent colours marked with * have been recreated using RGBA, so that they can be shown with their LDraw alpha level.
Notes
- LDraw 6 Brown seems to correspond with LDD 25 Earth Orange
- LDraw 366 Earth Orange seems to correspond with LDD 12 Light Orange Brown
